Guatemalan Rum70cl / 40% Ron Zacapa Centenario Sistema Solera 23 is an iconic brand of Guatemalan rum, with a long-standing reputation as a great sweet sipping rum, and a bartender's favourite for high quality cocktails. The solera system used for ageing Ron Zacapa 23 Solera is similar to the process used in Jerez for sherries, with a series of very large interlinked wooden vats. Aged rum is drawn off from the bottom vat for bottling and is replaced by younger rums added into the top vat to begin marrying with the older rums within. Continued by sherried notes of caramelised roasted brazil nuts and toasted hazelnut, rounded out by toffee, banana and dried pineapple. Palate: Complex, generous and full-bodied. Starting with a depth of dried fruit and apricot, building to savory oak, nutmeg, leather and tobacco with notes of coffee and vanilla, balanced with a spicy touch of cinnamon and ginger. Finish: Intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and dried fruit.
