You can eat the berries fresh, cook with them or make preserves. In the Spring, the bush is covered with showy, white ombrelles. -------------------------------- Cold Hardiness: Zones 2 - 7 Edible: Yes Size: Medium shrub Growth Rate: Medium Nitrogen Fixer: No Native Plant: Yes Germination: 60-80% Sun Requirements: Full Sun - Partial Shade Soil Preference: Loamy, consistently moist, but tolerates wide range of soil types. ---------------------------------- GROWING INSTRUCTIONS **Difficult For best results, sow seeds outdoors in Spring, seeds will germinate the following Spring. If sowing indoors SEED PRETREATMENT: Soak seeds in water for 24 hours. Mix seeds with a moistened grow medium equal to 3-4 times seed volume. Place in a plastic bag, covered tray/cells or container. STRATIFICATION: After soaking seeds, start 6 months warm/moist (20°C), the top of your fridge is a good spot for this. Monitor for mold. Next, 120 days cold/moist (5°C), in your fridge is a good spot for this. Inspect seeds periodically for even moisture and sprouting. POST-STRATIFICATION: Sow stratified seeds on the soil surface. Seeds require light to germinate. Water evenly and regularly.
