This beautiful, traditionally inspired statue is the lead character from the 2007 Toei TV anime Mononoke which followed the adventures of the mysterious “Medicine Seller” as he faces off against various supernatural aggressors in Edo-era Japan.
Beautifully sculpted by Yoshinori Itou, this colorful statue perfectly reproduces the Medicine Seller’s characteristic outfit as well as his distinctive face makeup, sword, and pipe. In a particularly elegant touch, the Medicine Seller is posed sitting against a traditional screen which is slightly transparent so when you view it from the back it even creates a beautiful silhouette effect too.
